My friend won't be smiling this Christmas...
I'm sure you folks have seen this news piece last week.
HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP) - A truck driver was killed yesterday after being hit by a piece of heavy machinery that was to pull his stuck truck out of the snow.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. outside the Bear Canyon No. 4 coal mine near Huntington. The mine is operated by C.W. Mining Company.
The driver worked for Trimac Trucking Co., of Cleveland. The Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
The driver's name was not released.
MSHA spokeswoman Amy Louviere says the man was crushed when he was caught between the loader and the truck.
MSHA statistics cite the accident as the 29th coal mining-related fatality of 2007. It's the 10th fatality in Utah. Nine miners died in August in two collapses at the Crandall Canyon mine.
