Zion in the SHnow!
Good day! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!
I just went over to Zion last Sunday to play in the snow! yes!
I headed up through the tunnel; stopping only once for a porky-pine on one of the switchbacks in the road. I got to the eastern entrance and just before you reach it, TURN RIGHT! pull into what looks like a residence road or service road and take it about a hundred yards to a trailhead.
Beautiful snow covered trail that only had my footprints on it! Hard to believe!
Here is the link for the day's pictures...hope you like them.

I headed over the footbridge and immediately turned left up the drainage toward jolley Gulch to see the falls in all its fury....
But, alas! The falls are just a trickle...Still, a great walk in six inches of new snow made a beautiful day. I hiked back to the falls and returned to the truck and stopped every hundred yards or so all the way down to the bottom of Zion and turned up canyon. Yes, you can actually DRIVE the whole way this time of year. Check out the waterfall at the end of the
road where the river walk to the narrows begins. wow! I am stoked!
I felt like a little kid playing in all that snow.
Cheers!

Wonderful pictures! There can never be enough pictures of Zion in the snow. I'm hoping that this is the year that I get to walk in the snow while in Zion.
Thanks for sharing!

Zion certainly was awesome that morning. We played on the East side and then went down to the main canyon.
Here's a link to some pictures from the previous Sat and this Sun.

You bet, Tanya! Like Felicia says, Zion and snow is truly eye candy and a
photographer's paradise!
Hi Win! Great shot! There's nothing like the stark contrast of glowing,
warm, redrock and snow! wow!
Tanya, Bryce is great this time of year to showshoe in. You can go
off trail. Only time of year they let you walk right up to a hoodoo in deep
snow. A whole world opens up in showshoes. Also, quite a hefty workout.
