Zion National Park Superintendent Jock Whitworth announces the completion of the Backcountry Management Plan and the signing of the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) by the National Park Service Intermountain Regional Director.

Most of these lands are within recommended wilderness and must be managed to protect wilderness characteristics and values. The plan offers an array of backcountry recreational opportunities while recognizing and protecting the cultural and natural resources values for which Zion was designated.
