South Ariel Peak and Separation Canyon
When you want to do something you have not done before...
Bo and his friend Tim and I met in Zion this morning intending to do Petroglyph Canyon, but it looked cold and snowy. We park across from a place that looked warm and sunny, so up we went. Fun peak! Awesome view from on top.
We were done with plenty of daylight so we headed off to explore a wash/canyon we saw from the peak. Another awesome hike! It ended in a great summit and view point.
The only problem today was the sandstone was so wet it broke like a dirt clod! Crazy! There were no hand-holds!

I glanced at the article... are they open to the public? Bo wanted to go there but I wanted to go to Zion.

Notice the shoes.. he did wear those toe/fingers shoes until we had to climb the CRUMBLY snow covered pile of loose rocks at the top of the mountain. ;)

The photos above are from the peak we climbed. The below photos are from the canyon/wash we saw from the peak and went to explore.

You can see Bo and Tim sitting on the "knife edge" to the peak in this photo.

Thanks
I'm not, but the man that was with us, Tim is! He teaches it at a college and was filming us for some hiking show that will be on TV. Sort of cool. Tim let me use a polarizer and the photos looked so good on my camera (even though it was a cold, hazy day) but when I got home they were too dark. I have to get use to it and set my camera to where they will be lighter.

Separation Lake
You forgot to post a picture of "Separation Lake" on the way to Separation Point Tanya! Think we'll have to head back there this Spring to do some Kayaking!

Very nice pics, sure looks cold with that water in the photo!
Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

Thanks
It was chilly! We did not start until 10am though and that helped... and then we started straight up a mountainside.. that will warm you up! Later in the day when the sun was setting and we were going downhill.. it was COLD!

So that's why everyone goes out and plays in the snow! I never could figure it out.
