    Canyon year

So... is it too early to post the annual how many canyons did you do this year post? It's always been a popular post in the past. I was self loathing about how little I got out this year because of school but when I broke it down to a list of how many canyons I did (not to mention riding days and climbing days) I started to feel better about myself. Feeling the pangs of my own guilt, I already turned myself in. They can't prosecute you twice for the same crime, can they?

Shenanigans -- with Rob, me, and your dad -- remember?

I'm boycotting this thread by the way -- such a blatant pissing contest.

Ooo, I'm jealous with how much you guys get out. I only get out occasionally and am limited on time so I'm stuck doing short routes.

    Let's see...

Dang! Even with school, you got out a lot!

My outdoor activities this year included a lot of hiking, a few climbing trips, and two caving trips as well.

Considering I work full time, have a lousy three weeks vacation per year, and I have kids, I got out a fair number of times.

    Anyhow, here's my canyon list.

    Lytle Creek - Ca
    Upper Jump - Ca (twice)
    Kaweah - Ca
    Cerberus - Ca (twice)
    Hades
    Jug - Az
    Meadow - Az
    Crystal - Az

    Neon (short)
    EII & up EIII
    Chop Rock
    Pine Creek (twice)
    Fat Man's Misery (twice)
    Water Canyon
    Spry
    Imlay
    Echo
    Lou Ellen (sp?)
    Cathedral in the Desert

    I think that's it.

Got plans to attend Freeze Fest too, but I hope to do something other than canyons the entire time. I wanna see some country beyond the canyons...some artwork and ruins and stuff...

~ We got moving water here in Cali! Here's a picture of me lounging around on the upper Jump trip of the North Fork of the Kings River after rapping a waterfall ~

Come on rock, you joined in when we did the same thing back in 2005,

    http://www.uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1108

now we are braggers? Actually it kind of shows what a loser I am. I'm pretty impressed with how much a lot of you married with kids guys get out, like You, Shane, Marc, etc... If I ever end up married with kids I hope I can get out half as much as you guys.

But you're the one who taught me to pee that far, remember? And we all know that lots of pressure + small hole = lotsa distance.

Finally, I can play! I can play!

First ever "technical" canyon was in mid-October, so I'm happy with:

    West Leprechaun
    West Blarney
    Boss Hog
    Cassidy

    Plus October non-technical:
    Spooky
    Peekaboo
    Coyote Gulch
plus lots of other less canyon-y stuff

    Back in March, non-technical:
Buckskin/Paria all the way to Lees Ferry

    April non-technical:
    Horseshoe Canyon
and a bit of the Maze

Dang, it's been a good year - no, a great year! Gotta see how next year goes... I have a feeling it'll involve less total time in Utah than this year, but I think the quality will be good. And next year I'm really gonna lobby to make Freeze-fest. It's a no-go this year, sadly.

Nice Kev, the first canyons are always the best! Let us know when you will be out here again, I'd be willing to let you tag along.

    Eric.

Dang... is right! That's quite the list, so this brings up the question to the dudes with long lists, what is your day job? Do you just get out like EVERY weekend or do you get a lot of days off to do extended trips? Or do you work? I work 12 hour shifts so once school is done it's 6 on 8 off for me, can't wait!

    Eric.
