Bryce Canyon - Under the Rim
Would this hike be doable next weekend? --- one day hike?

It's doable but you probably will be hiking in the dark. 23 miles total, lots of hiking in sand.
Riggs Spring loop might be a better option.

We can do 23 miles ( in sand --- but it was not too soft) on a late fall day..... like yesterday.
Is there a lot of up and down on this trail? I know most of the trails in Bryce are, but I was thinking this one might be different? We have done most others... but this one has kept eluding us.
We are always looking for remote hikes... would love to know some in Bryce that we have not found. Granted we have not spent a bunch of time there compared to surronding areas.

There is some elevation, ups and downs but no steady climbing until you are at the end and ready to come out.
Personally, I find the hiking boring at Bryce and what I do is off trail. I much prefer to spend my time on the GSENM.
Have fun in whatever your journeys are.

I have to agree... while Bryce is stunning!!!!!! --- it's not a hikers mecca. I too spend much much much more time in the Staircase than in Bryce. Zion rules for hiking though. Do you go there much?

I go there mostly for work. I have hiked all of the West Rim trail system, East Rim and my favorite is Canyon Overlook. I would like to do Pine Creek. I hear there is a good hike around Checkerboard Mesa but I have not done it. If you care to lead the way I'll follow.

Or hike around to the arch near the back of it.

Bo and I hike every weekend usually.... we are doing something this Sunday but not sure what. We were going to hike rim to rim on the Grand Canyon for a 2 day hike, but he is working on Sunday. We usually try and do things we have not done before. What do you like out in the Staircase?
We like to stick to the Cottonwood -- Skutumpah area and do all that's there before we go beyond.
Here is what we have done out there so far...

Bruce must be a popular name in Bryce.
