Warning: Larger Group In North Wash

    Hey all,

Just a warning that I'll be bringing out a bit of a larger group over
towards the Sandthrax camp spot over the weekend of 10/26. Don't
exactly know how many yet, but more than my usual small group.
Showing some folks what canyoneering is all about; likely 10-15.
Haven't yet picked our canyons, but when I make those details a little
more solid, I'll pass those on as well. (Though they will still
    likely be a little tentative.)

Thus, for those wanting solitude (good luck with that in October ;)
you might want to avoid us. For those in the area and not seeking
solitude; feel free to drop on by and hang out with us.

    Take care,
    A.J.

    North Wash

We have a group of 12-15 heading down on the prior weekend 19th - 22nd. Some newbies, but our regular group of climbers as well. The camping areas at mile marker 28.3 were great 3 weeks ago.

We're looking at doing a couple of the shorter slots each day on Saturday & Sunday and hitting Zero Gravity on the way North on Monday morning.

I'll post up how things look when we return on the 22nd.

Thanks. Would love to hear about current conditions in there. Especially current water levels.

Walk into the mouth of Sandthrax from the bottom right where it slots up. If you encounter water you will probably find water in the lower slot (below the crux). It's a descent rough gauge and only takes 5 minutes to check out.

Doesn't matter much if there is water in the upper slot because your feet almost never touch the ground.

Thanks for all the info Shane. I'm not worried about water in Sandthrax at all since the only two going in there will be able to handle that. It's more the other canyons as I have a couple people that haven't canyoneered before, and would like them to have a good time.

So it is looking like my group will have around 10 people, and I found out there is another group of 10-12 coming in as well. Thus, likely to be crowded at Sandthrax. We are going to try to either get the main Sandthrax site, or a couple of the smaller sites next to it. Feel free to come by and say hello; hang out, hit a canyon with us, enjoy a fire at night, etc if you are in the area.

    Our groups plan is:

Thursday 10/25: Left Leprechaun; then at the confluence with middle, we'll see how everyone is doing. A subset might climb the escape at the confluence of left and middle, and come down middle as well.

Friday 10/26: Two of us in Sandthrax, rest in Middle Maidenwater. Either group may add another canyon afterwards, depending on time done, energy, etc.

Sat: If people are up for it; South Maidenwater. Otherwise, one or more of Blarney and/or Shillelagh.

Sun: Lucky Charms and then head home.

The other groups plan that I know is in that same area is:

Friday 10/26: Left and Right Leprechaun

    Saturday: Middle Leprechaun

Sunday: Blarney and then head home.

Feel free to join us, or avoid us...

    Take care,
    A.J.
