You might want to check on the status of the road leading to East Mountain.

It was closed starting at Indian Creek Campground when I was up there at Potter's Ponds three weeks ago, but they were drilling holes in search of the six trapped miners up there, so I'm not sure if that's why the road was closed, or if it was still closed due to the off-road abuse. It will add about 5 miles to your hike if the road is still closed.
