New NWS Flash Flood Page

Hello again. This is Brian McInerney, Hydrologist for the National Weather Service at the Salt Lake Forecast Office. I thought I would mention we have a new one stop shop flash flood page. We've put it together with input from some of the canyoneering community. If you find the time, I would appreciate any comments you may have on the page. You can find it at:

yup ... hopefully this more interactive website, offering the most up-to-date information, will be invaluable to canyoneers, hikers and anyone else who is affected by flashflooding.

it's a great improvement, and my suggestion to folks is explore all the links ... see where they go and what information they provide. today is a good time since there are high ratings and specific warnings available.

check out the specific watches/warnings/statements in the upper right.
click on the interactive map to focus on a specific region of utah.
click on the quicklinks to various radar images


and perhaps offer your impressions afterward ... sounds like they're pretty interested in the feedback

Thanks. Any comments would be great. We're hoping this will give the community additional info to make the correct choices.

Looks like a great resource. Something like this would definitely be an asset when considering upcoming trips. One downside is the lack of an extended forecast for these regions, but that is understandably an impossible task. Is the map supposed to show satellite imagery, or other precip data? It was just blank when I viewed it.
