I ran into some interesting critters in the Swell this weekend. The toads and the bat were in Calf Canyon. The bat was just crawling on the ground near a pond--kinda strange.

I stopped on the trail to get a photo of this gopher snake, but it tried getting away from me by crawling up into my wife's 4-wheeler. It took about 10 minutes to get it to come back out.

Love the pics, Dennis! I'd be willing to bet that bat had rabies, though

. Totally not normal for it to be out during daylight, let alone crawling around on the ground. Great shots of it, though!
