3 Days in the Wind Rivers
Hey guys,
Looking for some suggestions for an upcoming weekend (3 days) I have scheduled in the Winds. We are looking for some non-technical peaks, and good fishing. Willing to pack in 8 or 10 miles. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I've done Elkhart Park to Seneca Lake (about 7 miles in?). Then day hiked around Seneca Lake. I know some other have done that same route too.
Here's some nice photos!

Last year I went to Fiddler's Lake on the 4th of July without reservations and there were still camp sites available. You can hike to several other lakes for better fishing if you want. Check out my post http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2913

I went up the Big Sandy Trailhead to Big Sandy Lake then up to Blue Lake. It is an easy 6 or so miles in. Big Sandy Lake is very busy, but Blue Lake is just North, and there isn't an official trail. The fishing was fast for small brookies. There is another lake just above Blue Lake called Lost Lake - very pretty and fast fishing for a little bit bigger brookie, plus you can climb up the ridge and you'll be on top of the Cirque of the Towers. There are also several other lakes in the area that have huge fish in them, but I never fished them. My time at Big Sandy Lake itself showed it very busy, but didn't see one fisherman. The bear activity can be a problem in this area, but it is IMHO the best effort/rewarding hike in the Wind Rivers - meaning fairly easy and fast hiking and eye popping scenery -especially if you make the effort to go to Jackass Pass and Temple Lake.
Biking, Hiking, and Fishing are life. Everything else is just fluff.

What trail guidebook(s) do you recommend for the Wind Rivers?

Ones I have read
Wind River Trails by Finis Mitchell
Fly Fishing the Rocky Mountain Backcountry by Rich Osthoff
(Climbing and Hiking in the Wind River Mountains, 2nd by Joe Kelsey
If you are into fishing- Rich Osthoff's is a good one.
