Boat Owner Makes Costly Mistake
July 10th, 2007 @ 4:10pm
(KSL News) A $100,000 dollar boat sank in Utah Lake this morning.
The boat's owner docked the boat at the harbor late last night, but he forgot to put in the plug.
Tom Hayward, a neighboring boat driver, noticed the boat taking on water and called 911.
He was then directed to the sheriff's office for help, which said the problem was not in their jurisdiction. Hayward says, "Someone should have come out and pumped out the boat because like I said, it wasn't even in the boat yet."
By the time the park ranger found out what had happened, it was too late to do anything about it.
The owner must now pump out the water or get a crane to remove the boat from the water.Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, as vital to our lives and water and good bread

I forgot to put the plug in one time. The boat started filling up, and I thought it was my friend who just got in the boat, who didn't drain off good enough.
We hurried and loaded the boat once I remembered, and it drained for about 15 minutes.

I haven't made that mistake with my new boat yet. I'm told everyone does it at least once.
