    Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?

So does anyone know anything about these new vehicles? Likes/Dislikes? Etc?

I am thinking about going down and giving one of those a test drive....

I don't know anything about the new ones but I do have a 2005 Unlimited. Rides great with the longer wheelbase and the extra room is nice to have. The new ones have four doors and I'm up in the air about that styling. If you do go off road the extra WB can be tough, I've high centered more than once.

    Good luck,

I like the new JK's. The looks are pretty sweet when lifted, stock they look a little feminine, especially with the smaller tires. Two door, four door option is a pretty neat idea. As with all the Unlimited's, they have the Dana 44 rear and the Dana 30 front. Gone with the JK is the ever loved 4.0L and replaced with a 3.8L V-6, this was done largely due to the front end crash testing. The 3.8L was an underpowered replacement for the 4.0L.

The nice thing with lifting the JK's is that fitting larger tires is pretty easy with not all that much lift. 1" body and 4.5" of lift will fit 37's.

Out in Moab this year we brought a 07' 4-door Unlimited sitting on 37" Toyo's, Walker Evan beadlocks and re-geared axles at 5.13's. Even with the 5.13's, the 37's made the JK a little sluggish on the road, off-road everything was fine.

    That looks bad ass!

I have spent my share of cash on a TJ already, so if I ever get one, it will be pretty much stock for the wife vehicle and occasional offroading for me with the family. So the stock 32" tires that come with it are too small?

Yea, that JK Unlimited is one fine looking rig!!

The 32's are the ones that look OK. The 32's have a street look and not that of an off-road look. That is what makes them a little feminine. The regular JK, non-Unlimited's, have a smaller tire with the 32" being an option and that just looks all wrong But yea, even with the 32's under it, it still looks too small, but then again it could be because of the street tire look. Maybe with a more aggressive looking 32 it wouldn't look so bad. I'm wondering if a 2" coil spacer lift and 34" tires would be all you need to make the Unlimited a little more aggressive looking. And the 2" coil spacers are cheap. The cost would be with the tires and that's it.

If you cannot tell, I'm against that stock look

Ha, that's exactly how I got where I am. My wife is like "you told me the Rubicon would never need any tricking out". Yeah, right!

JP, nice photos of the rig! And we agree, the looks are stellar and the ease of increasing tire size is there. Overall, a sweet rig and the 4-door option is an excellent one!
