    Climbing with juniors

Last Friday Marc and I took our little ones up to Big Cottonwood canyon to climb a few rocks. The weather was perfect and hardly anyone was around. We had the kids climb a 50 foot scrambling rock to get them used to the rope and the rock.

Marc's kids were on the rope before and they felt a lot more natural going up. His daughter Ruby was unstoppable even at age of 3. Miles (marc's older kid of 6 years old) summited the rock three times. Had a little mishap on the last rappel down, but nothing a big old dad's hug couldn't fix.

Max (my son) did great for the first time. He scaled the first part of the scramble without any hesitation, but got some fear in him once he came to a flat rock. Dad had to climb and help find the way.

Marc was on the belay at all times and I was playing with my new Nikon D80 camera (which I couldn't work).

    Overall a great trip!

Awesome! Start 'em young! Looks like it might be the same area we take my nephew. Good place to take kids.
