I think the color has indeed been enhanced. Check this out (original):

I am sure the clouds are real... The image I posted was linked directly from the original source, which just goes to show he was horsing around with it in photoshop maybe just a hair....

i was at an allman brothers concert in Pittsburgh about 5-7 years back. big storm rolled thru and left an amazing sky filled with mammatus clouds like that. its a sight to be seen.

Having grown up in KS, I've seen clouds like that occassionally. The first one has been color enhanced, but the cloud pattern is real.

sorry rock, the clouds are real ... anyone who doesn't believe so should simply check books or websites on different cloud formations.
i have a whole folder of mammatus images from this guy.

I remember seeing something similar in Iraq. It was quite a sight and somehow not the most amazing weather pattern I saw there.

I love that pic. It's been all over the email circuit for some time.
Definitely real though. I've seen some really neat clouds, myself. The closest match I've seen to the original pic in this post,..no camera, of course.
I got lucky once, though. These are from a trip to Strawberry that I took a few years ago. The pics were taken on a funsaver point and click...please pardon the crappy scan quality:Lost On A Hill
