cinnamon bear
Last fall while out coyote calling in southeast Utah I ran into this guy David. He was hunting cougar with hounds and had just bagged a coyote by luck.
This weekend I was camping on the Blue mountains, Riding my dirtbike toward North Elk Ridge when I ran into David again, This time he was standing on the road with binoculars and his hounds had a Black Bear treed in the canyon below. I had to get a closer look (and some pics to post) so I scrambled through the scrub-oak to the bottom of the canyon and here it is!

It's kind of funny how a cougar or bear will find the biggest and tallest tree when they are being chased by hounds. When I have hunted lions, we just looked for the tallest tree in the general direction of the barking dogs and usually that is exactly where the lion would be.
