WASHINGTON - For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe."

The planet is just the right size, might have water in liquid form, and in galactic terms is relatively nearby at 120 trillion miles away. But the star it closely orbits, known as a "red dwarf," is much smaller, dimmer and cooler than our sun.

This is such a no-brainer. If you understand anything at all about the Universe, you've got to realize that there have got to be quillions of habitable planets. Yes, quillions. Maybe drillions. It's just been a matter of time before we started being able to find them.

The only way you think we are alone in the Universe is if you have the psyche of an infant and think the whole thing revolves around our one little planet.

some even think the universe revolves around them....

    Oh great.

Now the conservatives have an excuse to finish destroying this earth and the liberals have an excuse for 100 trillion dollar project to try and see if we can settle another planet.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

That would be a $100 trillion feasablility study to see if we could do it.

Oh, and the article didn't say: does this new planet have a global warming problem? Is it our fault?

How much exactly is a Brazillion?
Since it's sun is a Red Dwarf, maybe it will be a law to drive SUV's all of the time to keep the planet warm.

Can you imagine the industrial waste created from the production of the Warp Gate to get to this new planet?

We'll have protesters fighting to move to this new planet because of earth being destroyed, and we'll have protesters fighting those protesters because of the environmental damage created by the WarpZone Industries plant.
