Thread: AZ technical Canyon Guidebook

    AZ technical Canyon Guidebook

I've heard through the grapevine that a technical canyoneering guide to Arizona is being written.

This is NOT the so-so guide "Canyoneering Arizona" by Tyler Williams.

I get the impression this guidebook will do for AZ canyoneering what MK has done for Utah canyoneering. And yeah, I know MK has some AZ stuff, but not much, and most of what he does have I'd consider Utah spillage.

    Anyone know or hear anything?

UPDATE: The future AZ Canyon Guidebook has been confirmed. Estimated (hoped for?) release date is Spring 2008. This should be an outstanding resource when available.

Chatted with the woodlandsprite a bit about it at the OR shoe. Sounds like a neat book. Must have for techy canyon stuff.

Interesting some of the hoops they tried to jump through to include some semi well known canyons, with itchy access...

    Doesn't Todd have a website?

Update: I saw an advanced copy of the AZ Canyons book last night. It is extremely well done and sure to be a big hit. The book contains 42 AZ technical canyons with excellent maps and route descriptions. Also some nice photography in the book and basic canyoneering information. I believe the book will sell for $20 bucks which I consider a bargain for good accurate beta.

Current estimates are the book will be available around the first part of October. I'll post the ordering information as soon as it is available.

After thumbing through the book some of these canyons look really sweet. I hope to see some AZ TR's and pictures in the near future.

The second I heard from Todd that it was out I got myself one! Having helped Todd with some canyon beta , I knew the information was going to be good and very accurate. I was very very impressed with the writing.

    Great job Todd & Steph!!!!

Dang...I could have told Stephanie that I could just swing by on my way to New Mexico on saturday and save on freight!?

I did get an invoice from her yesterday, so maybe they shipped yesterday, meaning I should have them in the store monday.
