    I'm Back From Crystal Cave

Here are a bunch of pictures:

This was honestly about the clearest water. It was surprising to find such clear water in a cave.

    Now tell us about them!

I'm too lazy . The just of it was that we just had the cave to ourselves for exploring and we had a great time.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics. I'm still disappointed I ddin't get to do this cave when I had the chance. They don't issue permits for it in the summer. Would you recommend it to others, if I try to do it this fall?

Where is this cave? Who is in charge of issuing permits?

    Where is this cave?
NW Utah; very well known, but you can only visit by permit in the past few years, so contact the BLM. There was no permit system before a couple years ago.

Who is in charge of issuing permits?
BLM Salt Lake City Field Office. Application below:

Sorry, no OHV's allowed inside the cave.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Nice job with all the info Scott.

I would recommend doing Crystal Cave but I would only recommend it to someone with an SUV. I found out on this trip that my Outback is not my Jeep. I actually bottomed out a couple of times getting there and my car got scratched on some narrower parts of the road out there.

(I had no advanced warning of the poor conditions of the roads).

That being said, it was cool. And it was fun being the only people there. I think it is because of Bats (in an attempt to preserve their habitat?) that they do not issue permits in the Summer. (I'm pretty sure that this upcoming weekend is the final until Fall). I'm sure you have been to cooler places Jumar but I thought it was fun.

This is probably not interesting but here is a clip of Ruth in the cave:

I can see the shadow of your camera, too! That's actually kind of funny.

Cool - thanks for posting that. It may not be totally "riveting", but it's definitely interesting enough to post!
