    HTML in Posts & Signatures

I'm trying to put an <a> (href/img) link in my posts and signature with no luck. I've tried a couple times now, but every time I submit, most of my HTML is stripped out. What am I missing?

you have to use the "[img]" normal "<html>" is disabled on this site.

Also it depends on the type of post you are trying to make.

If it is an image for your signature, you can highlight the url and select "img" from the same section that has "B" "Quote", etc.

If you are trying to post a video, you can only use youtube, and you post the url and then highlight it with the "Youtube" button (next to the "B" "Quote", etc.)

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks for the response and instructions. However, some users have href links in their signatures that aren't from YouTube. For example, check out davis_b_1. He has two href links. Also, until a few days ago, some other users had Sloganizer.net imgs and hrefs (combined) in their signatures. Thoughts?

OK, so you just want a link in your signature? No special coding is required, just type in the url. You don't even have to "box" it in with the buttons.

Now if you want an image in your signature, you'll use the "Img" button. But beware, don't have it too big or people will get upset.

Now, if you just want a LINK to an image, just paste the url in your signature.

All of these changes will be done in your Profile page.

We're getting close, but still no cigar. Look at JamisJockey's signature. The link says "My Blog!," but the URL (hidden) is http://www.cycleutah.com/cs/blogs/ja...y/default.aspx. Just like your signature, Sombeech. The link says "My other videos," but the URL is http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1469. The same was done recently by rockgremlin and accadacca, as I recall, with imgs that were actually links to Sloganizer.net. I don't want to see "http://blahblahblah" in my sig, but I would like something like I described above. Make sense?

    Appreciate your help on this.

No dice. Good suggestion, though. I'm beginning to think it's only available to site admins. I don't mind if it is, I just wish I knew so I could stop futzing with it.

    Nice vid, btw!

You should be able to get it to work. Make sure your options are set like those in the picture below. Make sure HTML and BBCode are turned on, and that the option to always attach your signature is also turned on.

Man, you guys are patient. Thanks!

Ok, here's an interesting clue. When I read kris247's response, I see "url=http://www.clownpenis.fart]Dillon/Edwards Investments[/url" (with square brackets but minus the quotes). However, when I see DiscGolfDivers' quote of kris247's response, I see "Dillon/Edwards Investments" as a link! My profile settings are set just as shown below. Very odd. I wonder what's up?

Just as a reminder, when I put this in my signature, it strips out almost everything on save. Maybe it works here in posting but not in sigs?

Kris had his bbcode/html turned off when he posted that, so it wouldn't look like a link.

It looks like it's not even trying to insert whatever you have in your signature, or else you'd end up with underscores like this:

    _______________

at the bottom of your post. I know that there is also an option, for each post that you make, to turn your signature on or off for just that post. Just under the box where you type your post, there should be a bunch of checkboxes. Maybe the checkbox there is unchecked, even though the option in your profile is set to always include your signature. It's certainly strange, but I just tested mine and got it to work just fine.

Oh man, that would have been much easier. I used HTML entities instead. Duh.

Thanks for picking up on that. Kris' link was funny, but what it came up as, was not.

    Here's the nested code:
    Code:

You can remove the carriage returns between lines. Gives the clickable hiking boot in my sig below - which I'll remove soon, so as to prevent annoyance...

Ok, here goes nothing. I tried Cirrus' code in my sig. Let's see if it works.

Dang, I'm an idiot. Last problem was not reading carefully, hence this second post. I sure appreciate all your input and sticking with it until the problem was resolved. Cirrus (Kev), your idiot-proof example did the trick. Again, thanks to all!
