Fly fishing the Provo River
I was wondering if anyone has a favorite fly for the Provo river. I am new to the sport and want to catch me some fish.

What part of the river?
Good question. But I would like to know a couple of things.
1-What part of the Provo? Upper, middle or lower? I personally love the Middle, it winds through the beautiful Heber valley. The closer to the dam the better for me.
2-What time of year? Winter is great on the Lower is Sow Bugs or Scuds. Summer time is really great anywhere-upper, lower, or middle. There's almost always a caddis hatch in the evening in the late summer. Or a mayfly hatch in the early summer (when it's cloudy).
Welcome to the addiction, be prepared for it to take over your life!
Tight Lines!

On the lower you've got to go with sow bugs and midges for sure, they are also a year round fly on the Provo.
Starting about now you'll want a good collection of blue wing olive mayfly flies. Get some nymphs, emergers, and dry flies.
Best advice, go with someone who knows what they are doing and don't forget to bring something to say thanks.
As soon as you decide to come up and fish the Middle P let me know and I'll let you fish with me.
