Granddaddy Lakes in the winter
Is it possible? Do they clear the road to the trail head? I was driving from Vernal today and thought it would be fun to snowshoe into the Granddaddy Lakes basin and stay a night or two. Any one know the condition of the road and whether it is maintained?

Scott, my information is from the 1990's and I don't know if anything has changed, by at least then, no the road is not plowed to the trailhead. It was plowed to the big ranch along the river, but you had to walk or snowmobile from there. I don't remember the exact length of the road to the trailhead is, but I think it's somewhere 4 to 4.5 miles each way.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.
