    yovimpa point :: bryce canyon

    i finally got around to digitizing a couple of images from negative i have
    blown up over the years. this has always been one of my favorites. this was
    taken during sept 1997. we spent two days hiking the riggs spring loop,
    camping in the meadows to the right of the back cliffs in the image. those
    cliffs at sunrise were simply GLORIOUS.

    also there was a hurricane off of the coast of mexico. it was spewing
    moisture-laden clouds directly at southern utah. these low-lying clouds were
    rushing across the sky, casting pockets of beautiful filtered light on the pink
    cliffs. it was a beautiful day. i blew this photo up to 20x30.

    i just wanted to share it with you all.

    Very Cool!

    I am putting new photo new photos on the East Zion Tourism Council site and proofing it. I am on the Bryce pages.. I am so tired of Bryce right now, (I hate proofreading and editing!) but your photo is outstanding.

    yup, thanks sombeech. i see i neglected to point that out

    this is a point in utah with one of the most far-reaching views of anywhere in the united states, which unfortunately worsens year after year. in the forest of this area grows almost every species of conifer that lives in the state of utah. the riggs spring loops drops in from rainbow point a bit behind the photo > follows through below in the forested region below the cliffs > up to the saddle between the back cliffs AND that promontory hump in the shade > then back along the rim of the pink cliffs to yovimpa point, from which this photo is shot. photo looks to the southwest.
