    Coyote Buttes: Steamboat Rock

This weekend Bo and I headed back out to the Coyote Buttes area. I had asked in this group if anyone had explored this rock, that we had seen from the Cobra Arch hike. Since we did not get any replies we decided to head out and explore it. It is another winner. It's not quite as special as Cobra Arch or White Pocket, but I found it more appealing than Paw Hole.

I like this erie looking shot

There were some odd looking rock structures here and there around the perimeter of the Steamboat Rock.

We hiked around Steamboat Rock, but the backside, just like with White Pocket, was not as interesting. The front and both sides were quite nice though.

What an area! Great pictures, as usual, and an easy to follow TR.

    Thanks,

Did you see the White Pocket Trail report? You could actually hit Steamboat Rock and White Pocket in one day. Steamboat has some REALLY soft dirt on the road, so going when the ground is frozen helps. We were a bit afraid to head back, but it stayed cold enough the ground was pretty solid. White Pocket is the pretty of the two, but I liked this one as well.
