    a Little Snow - Bryce & Zion

Funny, we moved to SW Utah to escape the cold and snow. So, we spent this weekend hiking and photographing in the SNOW!

Bryce Canyon was beautiful yesterday, after a 4 or 5" snowfall on Friday.
The road was only open to Bryce/Inspiration Pt but that was fine.

Today, Sunday, we decided to go up on the East side of Zion and take a little hike in a drainage called Many Pools. We thought the Sun would cause some nice melting and get the pools running. Well, we were a little early and the melt was just getting going when we finished. Made it a short day as my wife needed to do some cooking. MMMMMM!

Here are a few pictures of SW Utah in the snow, appropriate for Christmas.

    Merry Christmas.

Those are spectacular! We think alike. If I could have got away today I would have been at Many Pools and Bryce Canyon too.

    Those pictures are really special.

Looks like there was no need for crampons on Many Pools. Things were melting pretty good when we were there on Saturday, but we thought we would still need them for that slickrock.

Nice job. What software do you use for photo editing?

I bet he did not touch them. They are really nice! The skies.. the snow.. the mountain.. ..those are just really nice!

What are you using these days?

    Thanks for the kind words.

I really don't edit my pictures. All I do is download to www.picasa.com, free from Google, and maybe use the "are you felling lucky" button. And a little cropping for sure. I need a more powerful computer and am just too cheap to buy one!

If anyone wants the large file, just ask. The large file will not have a watermark.

    Picasa's great, isn't it?

Yeah, Picasa is great. The other asset to outdoor photography is a Polarizing filter. I have an inexpensive one and an expensive one and it's really hard to tell the difference. You'd want what they call a circular if you get one.

I store my photos at a site called www.fototime.com, cost $24.00
a year. They have the watermark option and you can choose size,
location, color and opacity. Fototime allows for easy linking for imbedding the photos in Forums or Ebay for example.

Those are really pretty! I really dig the contrast between the red rock and the snow in the winter. We shot some pics in Arches last winter, and they turned out great as well. Its just not your typical pics that you're used to. :)
