    2007 Scoring System

I want to keep track of what we want to do next year so it's easy to look up.

1 pt for every 10 yards rushing or receiving

    5 extra for a 100 rush/recieve game and 300 pass game

No playoffs in the last week of the season

    Live draft

Let's here more suggestions or opposes to the above changes.

If you do 1 point for every rush recieving yard you must also bump the passing yards in half, which I think would be 1 point for every 25 yards passing in our league.

I hope these are just suggestions at the moment, because some of this stuff I suggested and it was meant for discussion.

I hate the idea of shortening the season because some teams rest players if they are locked into a playoff spot. Using that thinking you should end about week 12 when 1/2 the teams are eliminated and the players spot trying so hard.

So far the three ideas I like the most are....

    1. Live Draft
    2. 5 points for 100 yards rushing/recieving
    3. 5 points for 300 yards passing.

1 point per 10 yards for punt returns and kickoff returns -- PLEASE!!!
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

icthy, how about telling us some of the options that are avaiable? Might make the wish list easier to establish.

As soon as I can find a moment to check out Flea Flicker, I've heard good things, I'll post some options.

If anyone has a FF site they like to use let me know.

All of the below can be modified. The commisioner can set how many points or - points for each category below. This is how I have my companies league set up and nobody complains as long as you do a live draft. I've found that the setttings below allow a ton more options. Like each team will have a good QB, RB, WR, and KR. My thoughts.

Passing Yards (10 yards per point; 5 points at 300 yards)
    Passing Touchdowns (6)
    Interceptions (-2)
    Sacks (0)
Rushing Yards (10 yards per point)
    Rushing Touchdowns (6)
Reception Yards (20 yards per point)
    Reception Touchdowns (6)
Return Yards (10 yards per point)
    Return Touchdowns (6)
    2-Point Conversions (2)
    Fumbles Lost (-2)
    Offensive Fumble Return TD (6)
    Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3)
    Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3)
    Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)
    Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)
    Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)
    Point After Attempt Made (1)
    Sack (1)
    Interception (2)
    Fumble Recovery (2)
    Touchdown (6)
    Safety (2)
    Block Kick (2)
Return Yards (10 yards per point)
Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6)
    Points Allowed 0 points (10)
    Points Allowed 1-6 points (7)
    Points Allowed 7-13 points (4)
    Points Allowed 14-20 points (1)
    Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
    Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1)
    Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)

I think we should have the W/R position available....a WR or RB can fill that position.....It is a good option to help your team score more points

And have Defensive players who can earn points and not just a team DEF

    Just an idea

    That goes with the territory.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Were it not for all of the bitching around here, I don't think there would be such drastic changes made for next year.

I wouldn't call tinkering with the scoring system a drastic change.

And the Live Draft is something we have kicked around before. I think everyone has always wanted a live draft, its just the logistics because this league is spread out over a couple of states that has stopped us.

I've decided our current scoring system must be pretty good. We are down to the final weekend of the regular season and we have 6 teams fighting for the final 3 play-off spots. You can't really ask for any better then that.

I say next year we attempt a live draft and maybe try and add return yards into the mix, which will make for more player options at WR and call it good.

The most important thing in a league is to have it tight and competitive.

According to my calculations.....there should be 6 teams that are 8-6 after this week!!! That is nuts!!!

So what's the final decision here? Can we all agree to the following:

    1. Live Draft
    2. 5 points for 100 yards rushing/recieving
    3. 5 points for 300 yards passing.
    4. -1 point per sack
    5. 1 point per 10 yards punt/kickoff return
    6. No playoffs in the final week of regular season

I like these. Please speak up if you don't.

I like the scoring system nelsoncc has put together.

    1. I don't like the whole KO/punt return yards and TD scoring points but the league champ wants it so I'll get it in there.
    2. I do like a WR/RB flex spot.
    3. Definately a live draft.
    4. -1 pt if your QB is sacked, I like that.
    5. No playoffs the final week.
    6. If you had LT the previous season you get him again.

So we have an agreement then? Ice? Acca? You guys wanna weigh in? If we hear nothing from you, then these rules will go into effect next year.

Also....should we up the ante? $30 a pop pays out like this:

    1st place = $150
    2nd place = $100
    3rd place = $50

    ...assuming 10 guys play.

I don't like the WR/RB flex spot if it means adding an additional spot. If it means turning an existing spot into a flex spot I'm cool with that. I really like our current players to bench ratio and total players allowed. You have to really mange your team in this league to stay competitive.

I'll kick in whatever you guys want for the ante.... gambling is like my 8th favorite sin.

    -1 point for bitching

I doubt we will have trouble filling a 10 team rooster.

  18. #17
Ya, agreed. I think we should keep the bench/player ratio where it is.

Let's make it so that the waivers favor the worst player in the league instead of the shitass rotating version of last season -- where the top dog has a chance at first dibs.

    As far as the ante goes - I am willing to go as high as everyone is comfortable. At least a $30 ante should be reasonable. I would be willing to go as high as $40 (1st = 200, 2nd = 120, 3rd = 80), $50 (1st = 250, 2nd = 150, 3rd = 100) or even $60 (1st = 300, 2nd = 180, 3rd = 120).
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

Hey I like that waivers idea if possible..... waivers order is reverse of wins.
