when I was a kid my parents bought a house from a Finnish couple - they had a sauna in the backyard. I didn't really pay attention to it until I discovered girls then.... we'd tell them that the sauna was best when nude.

I come from an old German family ...first generation SO, yes, the sauna is a clothing optional area usually the optional part...at least for me
