TR: Bald Mountain + Moose pics
Gerry and myself had another sweet ride Sunday. Up Emigration over Little Mountain Pass, up Mountain Dell Canyon to Big Mountain Summit. From there, we headed south over Bald Mountain and down the ridge. We planned to come out at Parley's Summit, but took a wrong turn and ended up going down the other side into Jeremy Ranch. Had to go back up I-80 to Parley's Summit then down to Mountain Dell to Emigration.
While we were heading down the wrong side of the mountain we ran into(not quite literally) some moose. Bull, cow, and two calves, all pretty big. Got quite a few pictures, most not worth posting, but there's a few. They were grazing down the hill slowly, and the trail was switchbacking, so we actually scared the bull out of the trail twice. Ended up being about 15-30 feet away from them for about fifteen minutes, they didn't seem too bothered by us.
Anyway, we ended up riding down Emigration in the dark. Total mileage after our wrong turn ended up being about 50 miles in 8 1/2hours. A good ride. Here's some pics:
