Upper White, Lower Hideout, Lower K & L Canyons

I took off and did a solo trip down to the White Canyon area on Saturday. Weather was great - temps around mid to upper 50s, and sunny.

This area looks like it has seen some heavy flooding about a week ago, and has been slowly drying since. There were potholes here and there, but some stretches were totally dry.

I rim-walked along the south rim of White Canyon for about 2 hours looking for a suitable drop-in, and finally found one right across from where Hideout joins up with White Canyon. I was without a rope, but if I would have had a 50 foot rope, I could have rappelled into White Canyon pretty much anywhere.

In particular, I had wanted to check out a little drainage just east of Hideout Canyon called K & L Canyon. I walked up from the bottom, and was stopped about half-way up by a 20-foot drop. This canyon looks like it may have some potential of being a pretty fun half-day slot. I'll have to approach it from the top the next time I'm down there.

I must have walked up Hideout Canyon for about 90 minutes, and it never got very interesting. I guess all of the good stuff is pretty high up?

It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.
