Old Smelly Echo
When I first started doing Echo Canyon about 1999 it had a major reputation of being a really stinky canyon. The first couple time I went through the pools were really fetid with lots of decaying vegetation. When you would exit Echo back in the 20th century you would be really smelly and couldn't wait to wash things off. Anyhoo.... I haven't noticed the smell the last 3 or 4 years. I mean it gets a little stinky now and again, but not like the old days..... anyone else notice this? Anyone found Echo to be really smelly the last couple of years? Or maybe its smelly and I just don't notice it anymore?

I think it is a function of the drought being over. More flow less stink. Just my guess.

Echo was actually stinky BEFORE the drought. Maybe the drought cleaned it out and we can again expect a stinky canyon in the future?

Who knows. I am still trying to figure out why one particular pothole in Imlay a couple of weeks ago was so putrid when it flashed only days earlier. The water was still nice and silty and warm meaning recent flow (I think) yet there was one hole that was just plain offensive. Granted it was log soupy so there was a lot of organic matter in it but it was a little odd that just that one was bad, not the one before nor the hole after.

There was probably a dead animal, or canyoneer festering at the bottom. Maybe Ice decided to relieve himself in that one.
Who knows where thoughts come from. They just appear.
It's my job to call the BS around here. Get over it.

When I did Echo a couple of weeks ago, I did not notice much of a stink. There was a lot of pine needle and mulch material in the last semi keeper pot hole that could eventually get pretty smelly, but it was not too bad when I went through.

Wow Ice - what did you do to get Tanya so stirred up at you?
It's kind of fun to watch I hope she keeps it up. Someone has to keep you in line.

Some men you just cannot forget. I was just wondering if Shane was one of them.

Fun to see two women ganging up on Shane.
I am pretty sure that he doesn't mind...
