Time for the Awards
That was a great thread with many thoughtful and knowledgeable comments from the group. Now for the next step.
UUTAH PRESENTS THE 2007 ACADEMY AWARDS OF CANYONEERING
(I'll start with some categories and others can chip in. Then a committee of our peers can finalize the list and ask for nominations. The committee then puts together the ballot and we all vote for our favorites)
CANYONEER OF THE YEAR
BEST CANYON VIDEO
BEST CANYON PHOTO without people
BEST CANYON PHOTO with people
If this goes over, then I would suggest that all websites dealing with canyons be included to ensure the widest possible mixture of canyon people.
P.S. This post is a serious one.

Sounds cool!
What is the critieria for "Canyoneer of the Year?"
I'm willing to bet that Canyonquest would probably win all of the photo awards. Their stuff is awesome! It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

As with any award the committe tasked with the job of putting together the categories would also develop the criteria. Very subjective....

We need some nominations..... which I guess is best done by placing a link to the picture or video you nominate.
Or post a picture here if its yours......

I agree Price gets the best filmaker/editor award. His vids are consistently the best canyoneering adventures put to film...er...silicon.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

I'm not sure where I saw this first (I believe Tanya took the photo) but this is my nomination for Sexiest Male Canyoneer - or at least, Sexiest Photo taken under a waterfall while canyoneering.
Never regret anything that made you smile!
