Thread: Weekend Cheesebox Trip

    Weekend Cheesebox Trip

Guess we have to do this here because I don't have everyones email address and folks keep PMing me the same questions.....

So what is the deal? Here is how I hear things...

Ice, Kazak and Itchey are riding down together. I think we have this handled.

We are meeting Rockgremlin and ??? at the soldier's grave Friday evening..

Itchy is bringing dinner Saturday night? Jumbalya

Doing Cheesebox on Saturday and the Black Hole on Sunday.

I don't think we will need wetsuits but if you have a shortie toss it in. You will need a lunch both days. Don't plan on a big breakfest because I plan on being up and rolling pretty early both days. (pulling out of camp about 7ish).

    Any questions? any comments? anything?

Should I bring the Pull Ups or Little Swimmers dipers?

I will get the drinks, Itchy what "special" drinks do you want?

And what do you guys want for non-alcoholic drinks?

Are the fires allowed there? Should I bring wood?

What gloves better: biking no finger ones or construction leather gloves?

    Sounds good to me.

Bring drinks of your choice for dinner Saturday. I like Henry Weinhardt's root beer if anyone cares!

Yes, fires are allowed. Wood is nice.

Gloves are for those who don't know what the hell they are doing. You won't need them cause Ya'll will have me

    Bring a chair.

Actually should probably be some Gatorade and water in the cooler also.... carbonated drinks are bad for hydrating.

Yup. That's exactly how I envisioned it Ice...thanks for finalizing. I will be with two other dudes from Monticello, both are very strong hikers.

I have used both fingerless and full fingered gloves. I think full fingered are better for canyons where a lot of ropework is required. Bring your fingerless ones for this trip.

I'm gonna bring a shorty. I get cold quick. Your Mileage May vary.

I checked the weather report for this weekend for Fry Canyon. Looks really good. Should be mostly clear and hot.

Beer is carbonated.... what are you saying????

I will bring gatorade and a 5 gallon round water thingy. I will bring firewood as well

And Rockgremlin is bringing the rope?

Everyone should be packed and ready to roll the night before.

So meet at your place at 4PM then, Shane? So we can leave at 4:30pm and try to beat the traffic...

  11. #10
Be at my house at 4:30. I have to work.

I'm bringing a 60m Imlay rope. Feel free to bring something else if you feel the need.

Hey Ice. . . I know you will, but be sure to post a trip report, especially for the Black Hole. I hope to be in both canyons in a month or so. Thanks much, and have fun!

Ummm, it's August in the desert... Not sure a fire is going to be all that welcome after a day in the hot sun...

You might want some bug spray, there were a few out last weekend.

The feller makes a good point.... maybe no wood? What's Itchy need to cook?

White Canyon gets really bad black gnats about June. I was/am hoping they are gone by now.

I was planning on bringing some charcoal and I'm even going to give my single burner butane stove a try and see how hot it'll get the oven.

Itchy I have a Coleman two prop stove which works great for outdoors cooking. I also have an open fire grill with a fire pan I can bring as well. I use it to cook steaks and such. Let me know if you want me to bring any of those.
