No Name Canyon into Orderville - Day 2 TCF

This day was scheduled to be Das Boot, but without a permit Tom decided to explore a no name Canyon that drops into Orderville. Tom, Paul, Carol, Rich and I awoke early for a one way shuttle up to the Observation Point TH past Ponderosa Ranch. Thank you John and Felicia for the drop off.

We trekked across the East Rim to the drop in for Mystery. We ate a little, then descended the scree slide in Mystery. Just when Mystery was getting good (before the 80 foot rappel) we headed straight up over a hill, bushwacking into the next canyon over the ridge. Very hot and scratchy!

The no name Canyon was a verdant steep dirt slide with no particular canyoneering features except for a 12' dry rock slide. We were prepared with 500' of rope plus another 100' of pullcord, but only used about 12' for a handline.

We worked our way down the canyon, entered Orderville and headed out to the Temple and waiting shuttle.

We did that canyon so you don't have to. I still like Orderville.

    You lucky dog!!

    Is this pic Orderville?

    It's gorgeous!

Hey admin - you're getting some of these pics for the image bar right?
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

Thanks. I had a great time. That is in Orderville and is the last place you can (legally) hike up to without a permit from the Temple. You will notice the sign bolted into the wall, which restricts upstream travel.

So, are all of these pics with a waterproof cover on?

I was talking to a guy in the permit line on Monday who said he's done the bottom half of Mystery by coming up that canyon. I like the upper half of Mystery too much to do it that way, but maybe someday when I'm bored....
Remember kids, don't try this at home. Try it at someone else's home.
