    Circumnavigating the Great Salt Lake

I work with a guy who wants to know if it's possible to drive around the Great Salt Lake. I imagine it's possible. I went to college with a guy who's geology class got permission to drive across the Lucin cutoff. I think they also had to get permission from the USAF for different segments.

Anyone know anything more about Circumnavigating the Great Salt Lake by road?

There is an article in Cyclingutah about some guys that rode around it, might be useful:

I circumnavigated it in a Toyota 4Runner just last year. The roads aren't too bad. A little rough in spots, but for the most part, pretty decent. It's a great route. We went counter-clockwise, starting in SLC, up I-15 to Corinne, then followed SR-83 past Promontory Point, then followed Salt Wells Rd to Kelton, then took a dirt road down to Hogup (which is actually nothing but a pile of railroad ties). At Hogup, we followed a dirt road that ran parallel to the railroad grade over to the Newfoundland Mountains. There's some broken down buildings and machinery on the north slope of the Newfoundlands from the early 1900s when they mined there for silver and tungsten. From there, we continued west until we got to Lucin. From Lucin we cut south to Wendover, then east back to SLC to close the loop.

It was the better part of a day, but there is some really cool stuff out there! If nothing else, you will see a part of the state that is extremely remote, that hardly anybody sees.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.
