    Alcatraz Canyon 6/3/06 (w/pics)

    My canyoneering friends (aka Team Sterns) went and did some canyons over the weekend. Here is a TR from Shannon.

    It took us about 2 hours to sqeezze ourself through the techincal part of the canyon. The first rap was to much fun. I felt like a swat cop. "What you gonna what you doo when they come for you". We saw many dead crows. In fact, there was a nest in the way of our steming. I trashed a harness on the way through. So just a heads up to take that off. Pack with the smallest pack. Wear something that can get trashed after words. It will definetly not be wearable after. There is no water in canyon. Just good ol' canyon poop mud.
    On the hike out it was hot and long. There was very lil shade, but when seeing those cars all i thought about was a "ICE COLD BEER".

    I didn't think Alcatraz was all that tight, but I stayed high when in question..... at the time I went through Alcatraz I was the biggest person known to have done the route....

    Alcatraz is only as tight as you want it to be..... its not that hard to go higher to a wider passage.

    Since my passage I have seen some guys who are BIG do Alcatraz. They have to work for it, but they can get through..... the secret is go high early.....
