I hate this! It feels so much like summer down here in the valleys, with temperatures reaching the 90s, but there's still so much snow up in the mountains. I ran into tons of snow on Skyline Drive at 9,100' elevation last weekend:

Why? Snowshoes are cheap my friend. I love it when the mountains are still buried in snow, the crowds aren't out yet, and it isn't freezing cold all the time like it is in winter. Enjoy it anyway you can!

Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

    Why?
Because its cold, wet, and shitty.
    I hate snow, too!
Its the necessary evil that fills up the trout streams for the summer and fall, though. I just wish it would melt in May......

Spring snow can make some hikes really easy. Climbing Twin Peaks (Borad Fork) is much easier and more fun when the boulder field is still snow covered.

Same for the P-horn up LCC.

Probably best to buy an iceaxe and understand how to use it. A descent iceaxe is only about $50 at some place like Recreation Outlet.

"Beat Out" (Up Red Pine, over the P-Horn, across Lightening Ridge, Down Bell Canyon) is also easier when the boulder fields in Bell are still snow covered. Also makes for some awesome pictures.

Good point Shane. I challenge anyone to climb the P horn via Maybird Gulch without snow. You will be sorry.
