Moab April 29th 2006

Day two of our trip took us north of Moab and to the Needles and down Ten Mile wash. This was a moderate trail with only one spot that was a challenge to the newbies. Can you spot the "cigar Store Indian" in the photos below? The tough spots near there.

About half way through the day we stopped and played in the sand dunes and had a blast. I thought for sure a couple of guys in the group might turn one over playing on the dunes but no one did. Had lunch and even tested out the new "Jet Boil Stove" we are evaluating. Not bad. Hot coffee in 3 minutes on the trail!

We then proceeded on down to "Hidden Canyon" If you didn't know where this one was you probably wouldn't find it. This narrow canyon winds its way through the sandstone mesa and is a little bit of red rock heaven. Sandy trails and smooth riding.

After Hidden Canyon we took a little side trip to a spot very popular with the rock crawlers. Redman warned everyone "thar be Dragons in that there pass..." but no one listened. One guy in our group decided first to see if his Grizzly could climb straight up. Then when it sat on it's behind and pouted he decided to test his winch (see photos). Piece of cake!

From there it was a fast trip across the flats towards the trucks and back to the RV Park, dinner and a cold beer. Twas a beautiful day and an awesome ride with a bunch of old friends and a group of new ones we meet via the forums.
