I really like the Deer Creek campground outside of Boulder. It's on the road out to the Burr Trail. There are only 6-7 sites so you have to get there early, they are first come first serve. There is no running water and there are pit toilets.

I used to go to family reunions at the Singletree Campground about 15 minutes North of Boulder (I think) There are awesome views of Capitol Reef NP, a short hike to a waterfall on the South side of the CG. Last I was there they had pit toilets and running water, but when I drove by a couple years ago it looks like it had some upgrades. It is at a higher elevation so it might be pretty cold at night.

Remember kids, don't try this at home. Try it at someone else's home.

I don't know about this area specifically, but if there is BLM or NF land nearby you should be able to primitive camp. That's my personal favorite way anyways.

Old Sheffield Rd 5 miles south (milepost 70.5) has many pullout camping spots.
