    The wife's ultrasound

We went in this week for the 16 week ultrasound. I was a little let down when the doc told us it would most likely be a girl. I guess some dads want a boy first.

My wife went in this morning to a place called Fetal Fotos, and they did another ultrasound and put it on video.

To my surprise, it's a boy! Something just didn't feel right when they said it was a girl.

Unfortunately, ultrasounds can be incorrect - especially early on. My friend is a neo-natal nurse, had an ultrasound and was told she was having a girl, she checked out the ultrasound herself and was satisfied the reading was correct, and prepared the nursery and bought everything for a girl. Surprise! She had a boy. Seems he was a sneaky little thing and hid his true gender until birth!

DirkHammergate here, first off congrats, secondly, I've got two boys and was shocked we were having boys because in my family (I'm the last of 5) we only have girls, same thing on MrsHammerGate's side. I was pretty pumped first go around, second go around I was like "Oh ****, that means MrsHammerGate is going to want to try again..." right as rain the IUD comes out next month.

    I don't need three boys. I'd do anything for a Daddy's Girl....

This is true. Even the first doc said he'd lay money down that it was a girl. Then, 4 days later, what???

This recent one looked pretty clear. We've got the video, and this is only one of the 3 "money shots" that the little dude provided for us. I was asking my wife (she's an RN) "is it possible that's just the umbilical cord?" She said nope. I am still a little skeptical though.

I hope for a good mixture too. I just wanted the first one to be a boy, then I'm good with anything after that.

We're naming him Porter, after Orrin Porter Rockwell.

Honestly most of the time when we travel (mrsHammer works at a major airline at SLC so we're travelling all the time) we are the biggest spectical this side of the Mississippi. In fact, we're going to Hawaii on Monday morning and I'm already sick to my stomach because three weeks ago at SFO my boys got into a fist fight in between gate 68 and 69 while we were sorting out our assignments with the gate agent. They're 3 and 6, fellow passengers were coming up to us and thanking us for the comedy routine. MrsHammer and I had to do the one on one thing..... I've heard boys are tough from 0 to 10 then a snap and with girls its a snap from 0 to 10 then shit hits the fan.

Send help... that Hawaii flight is like 4 1/2 hours.

If you are naming him after Porter, you cant cut his hair....See what the Mrs. says about that...

    That you know of.

    Sombeech:
No sympathy (nor respect) from me on this one (sorry). My wife and I went over 5 years, through fertility treatments, marital stress, doctor's visits, and finally went to the foster care system in the hopes of adopting. What, you're pregnant? Sure? . Imagine my joy when I found out the baby was healthy and hearty. I was more interested in the number of fingers and toes in our first ultrasound.
Maybe I'm a little biased, and I don't want to pee on your parade.

Congrats, congrats! My wife is also an RN and has worked labor and delivery for 8 years. She said before 20 weeks it can be any ones guess. Looks like a boy but I ain't no expert.
My wife is due with our second boy on the 15th. She is ready to blow!

I understand where you're coming from, and can ALMOST totaly empathise with you. We have actually been going through some operations, going to clinics and all that stuff for a couple of years.

Our neighbors were trying for 5 years as well. They put their names on the adoption list, and almost adopted a couple of times (the parents backed out). And then, they're pregnant.

I've heard that's what it takes sometimes, just putting your name on the list.

    Daah

    Congradulations my friend,

I remember the first time my daughter had a ultra-sound. We were all gathered around watching the monitor when the lady Dr. said we were expecting a girl. Try as I might I couldn't see what she was talking about and said "I don't see anything." Right on cue everyone in the room said, "Daah"

Then you should understand where I'm coming from.

That car is some hot shit. I think it should be refered to as the Luv Bucket.

I got your back on this one Somebeech. I really wanted a boy. But turns out you love your kids no matter what.

Congrats Dude! Now, are you gonna have 'em at home or in the hospital? We had our first in the hospital(Murray) and the our next two were delivered at HOME I helped deliver those two...scary deal, at least we're done building product but never done refining the art
