Zebra & Tunnel Slots
Wife and I hiked down to Harris Wash today to Zebra & Tunnel Slots.
Hole-in-Rock-Road was dry with snow only showing on some of the north facing slopes--in patches. Trail in was dry with only one section where there was ice; about 30 yards.
Zebra was cool and had one small patch of water we had to bridge over.
Tunnel Slot was a surprise as you will see in the photos. The entire slot was filled with sand. Zero, Zilch, Nada water!
Great day, temps near 50 and some lovely rocks.

Really nice pictures of Tunnel.
From my experience I have found slots are usually the driest in the winter. I think it has to do with the cool, dry air increasing evaporation.
Nothing scientific about this observation.... just kind of what I have noticed.

Guess I don't have to tell you......but it must be nice having that right in your backyard.

I re-looking at the phots with my wife in it and I think you can see where the high water mark was. About 1 foot above her head.
Yes, to be close to Escalante and Zion is a benefit of my job--but someone has to do it.

Thanks for the pictures Bruce. You have inspired me to go there over Presidents day.
