Censoring on the forum?
Well, we've had a few opinions on certain aspects of the forum rules.
I just thought it would be nice to get a poll going, and some of your thoughts on how to make this forum better.
What rules would you like done away with, or otherwise put in place?
Keep in mind, some people want their families to be able to log on, and see their pictures here.
But on the other hand, some of us won't have our families on this forum, so no need for censorship.
Let us know what you think.

I think for the most part, people know what is appropriate, and what is not. I think the best policy is to let the people govern themselves up to a point. The Yahoo canyon forums do this. For the most part, conversation is civil, and if somebody steps out of bounds, OTHER MEMBERS let them know they have crossed the line -- instead of MODERATORS.
Sometimes (and very rarely) somebody will completely cross the line and say something completely inappropriate. This usually results in other members coming out of the woodwork and verbally beating the offender over the head. I have never seen posts get so bad that they are snipped by the moderators. Usually because everyone knows where the boundaries are, and they respect them.
So my advice is...let members do the moderating (as far as what they deem is appropriate). I think the Moderators should ban members who are blatant spammers for porn sites and other offending material (online casinos, etc), and possibly snip the rare message that crosses the line. It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

Keep it clean. I would like to be able to recommend the site to others but who I would consider would be limited if theres a lot of skanky talk.

Go visit http://www.boldering.com Read through a few posts. The intelligence that eminates from this site is more like a black hole.
That's what happens when you get a bunch of retards that can't control themselves, and the moderators don't help out.
The way it should be (in all aspects of life, but especially regarding our country):
Americans (us) accept personal responsibility. The government is there to make sure that we follow the rules and standards we set for ourselves. This country was founded by men that could control themselves, so they didn't need Georgie running every aspect of their lives from thousands of miles away. Forum Moderation = mini US Gov't.?
My point is: If you know that what you do is going to offend someone, or make it hard for someone else to use the forum at work or school, don't do it. Don't do it because you have a little respect for that person. That's all. Just be civil.
And if above doesn't convince you to be nice, leave. Minority rights, but majority still rules. Tough beans. It's my job to call the BS around here. Get over it.

let me point out one more "unamerican" thing. The people who think that they should not be even slightly moderated didn't even take the opportunity to vote . . . typical.
It's my job to call the BS around here. Get over it.

Here is my 2cents, and I'm not sure it's even worth that much
I don't see a reason to censor anything unless you have a troll who keeps coming in and typing random crap, I actually can't stand these people and think they should be banned.
I think if someone puts in a random "f" word here or there then that's their choice. At what point do you stop censoring, is "hell" or "damn" a swear word? I'm from the east coast and those words were everyday language to me.
I don't think less of tripledeluxe because he said the "f" word, I have other reasons to think less of him. Does it mean he less educated? I don't think so, I have many friends who have phd's and swear more than anyone I know.
So I guess in short, It does not bother me if it's valuable input and not random crap? If someone wants to swear in a intelligent conversation I don't care. I've read some of the dumbest posts in the world that had no swear words at all.

Just a quick clarification while I'm in this state of mind. The "f" word doesn't bother me at all. I think the "c" word that rhymes with "bunt" is just about the only swear word that gets any reaction out of people these days.
The point of censoring the forum from things that might be considered R rated is to make it accessable to everyone. That's a perfectly intelligent thing to do.
I probably swear more than most of you guys combined, but I don't drop f bombs in front of my mom. How's that for reasoning? It's my job to call the BS around here. Get over it.

I don't care about the swearing myself.
But I have this knack for feeling uncomfortable for OTHERS who might find it offending. I think it has something to do with having a New Jersey native husband (where every other word is the f bomb it seems for the entire state) and living in Utah! He says you can take the boy out of Jersey, but you can't take Jersey out of the boy.
I'm on a few other forums, some where anything goes at all, and some where crap is slightly offensive to some. So the sites where anything goes are mostly adults but it hasn't gone down hill or anything.
So I guess it's fine as is right now for me, but keep it clean in general.

****ing ****......
Well, the f-bomb screener works except when the f-word is prefixed onto other words like: f**kface or f**khead. Just an fyi...It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

I am not condemning cursing, or I'd be a hypocrite. I just happen to believe that unlimited swearing will limit our forum visits.

I was banned from the small penis forum.
It's a long story.
And, this one time, I was banned from a gay and lesbian forum. It was this college experiment thing. I swear, I'm not a redneck.
