    Time for a new camera

We after paying over $30 for some crappy reprints from my last trip I have decided to buy a new camera. Furthermore I am going to join the 21st century and go digital. Just in time to, next month is my birthday.

So I, not knowing anything about cameras, thought I would ask all of you if you have any suggestions on what I should buy. I doesn

Hey, join the club. I just went digital this year also. After scanning about 500+ pictures, I got over my fear and got one.

In fact, we've got a thread on this, and there's some good suggestions on cameras for low prices. I absolutely love my Canon A510. It's under $200, and 3.2 MP.

Here's the thread for any more info...

Good luck man, you'll wonder what you've been thinking these last few years with all the money you spend on rolls, and THEN to develop them!!

Price was good, pictures aren't bad.
Of course, get as much camera as you can afford. 4mega pixel is probably the minimum. Ignore the digital zoom, all you get is a crappy picture if you use that, go for the highest optical zoom you can get.

I agree with Jamis. If you just wanna simple point n' shoot, get an optical zoom. The digital ones are OK, but they come with their own set of problems. Also, look into as much megapixel as you can afford. You won't regret it. I thought Acca's little 7.2 Mp Olympus was a pretty nifty little point n' shoot. I would set the minimum Mp at 5.

Get a nice big flash card too. At least 1 GB. That way you can shoot all day and not have to worry about disk space.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.
