Acatrazy
Summers, a new guy (tyson) and I are going to do Alcatraz in the RR this weekend. Any advice? People who want to come?

It's supposedly the toughest slot in the Roost. I haven't done it...yet. Take some sweet pictures, I'd like to know why it's considered so tough.

Seriously wonderful canyon. Definitely in my top 2, but i wouldn't recommend it if you are even slightly barrel chested.
Tyson got a hell of an introduction to canyoneering. That canyon is pretty difficult, minus the fact that you don't have to rappel that much. So skinny.
For future reference, if you do this canyon (i recieved the same warning) DO NOT take anything you care about through. Toss it in a salad shooter instead, it will come out looking much better.
There was some waist deep wading, the exit hike is pretty long, but not horrible. make sure you have a gps, or at least a map and some good map reading skills. Stay in the water course until you see the trail going up. Summers tried to short cut and we almost had to carry one out.
Skinny skinny skinny skinny, that's all.
Pictures are at home, I'll post them later.

Some buddies from my work did Alcatraz a couple weeks ago and said the same thing. One said he had to exhale everything in his lungs in order to squeeze through one spot. He also gave the same warning about gear, said he completely trashed his semi-new backpack. I'm afraid all my gear will be trashed after our trip to north wash next weekend, but I guess you have to expect it when you take up this sport.
