    The Wild Road Ahead

Hi, all. I am Richard Barron, and I travel to Utah often. I got married at Delicate Arch in October. In March I hiked Canyonlands for four days. I can't get enough. But I'll let my web pages say the rest...

Don't worry - I'll be in Utah again soon.

Great stuff!! I looked through your stuff. It's all really great!

I noticed your collection of camera(s)/camera gear. Am curious as to what you mainly shoot with? It looked all digital to me.

Welcome, and nice pictures! Hey, I immediately recognized this rock from somewhere, but can't remember where.

    Which trail is it on?

Welcom Richard! Your photos are amazing. Sierra is so cute.

Hope you make it back to Utah!

This image was made by my friend Michael on the upper end of the Devils Garden trail in Arches in March 2004, on the fin at the approach to Navajo Arch.

OK, thanks. It's just a weird rock that I remember standing exactly where he is.

    "...exactly where he is..."

That's me, by the way. I recall that it's fairly easy to continue up that fin and approach Navajo Arch from the other side. I have also seen web pages describing how to take that whole line as a trail on the fins, form Park Avenue to Double-O. I'd love to do that one of these vacations. Here's the link:

    Oh, OK.

I think I'll stop posting and let you answer rockgremlin's question

Abby and I have been all digital for more than a year now. I work as the photographer for the Ada Evening News (http://www.adaeveningnews.com/), and we're all-digital there now, too, so it's no longer easy and convenient to soup and scan film like it was three or four years ago. For my travel/personal stuff I shoot mostly with a Nikon D100 with the MB-D100 vertical grip, and I very recently bought Abby a D70S, which she absolutely loves. We also have a Fuji S1 Pro as a backup, which we got from our friend Michael (http://zig81.com/) when he got a Fuji S2 Pro. Abby also carries a Nikon CoolPix 885 in her backpack purse, and for light hiking and grab-camera purposes, I have a Minolta DiMage 7i. We're not brand-warriors, and are of the mind that any camera in the right hands can deliver the goods.

There is lots of stuff scattered around my website that I shot on film, but the last galleries that are mostly film are here:

At work I shoot the Nikon D1H, and the Nikon/Kodak DCS 720x.

Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

I've never really had a sales structure, since I shoot newspaper for a living, but when Abby, Mitchell and I return from South Dakota at the end of the week, I'll see about a price schedule. And thank you - I am flattered that you enjoy my stuff. Which images do you want?

The wild road this week: Badlands, Black Hills, Devils Tower, Custer, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, etc. Trip report and galleries to follow.

I know this isn't Utah at all, but I just posted the galleries from our latest trip, to South Dakota and Wyoming, on my website. You can check it out if you want...
