    Catfish

    Hey everyone.

Can someone suggest a good fishing spot for catfish in the salt lake area?

What about the jordan river, any luck with fish there? Is it safe to eat?

    Good question!!!

Accadacca and I went down and fished the Jordan some years ago. We didn't catch anything, but i suspect we may have been using the wrong bait.

I've heard from several different sources that the Jordan is excellent fishing for Cats. Just drop in some stinky meat and let it down a ways, and whamo! I think there are certain spots that are better than others, but I'm not quite sure exactly where they are.

Aside from the Jordan, I think Utah Lake has Catfish, but I'm not positive. Also Willard Bay has Cats, but that's a little too far away. And, the Bountiful Ponds has great fishing for Cats. Here's a link to more info on the Bountiful Ponds:

    Hope this helps!!
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

I know there are some big cats in the Jordan River. I remember seeing an article in the paper of a kid that hooked onto a monster. Ever since then I have wanted to pursue them in the Jordan river. I am no expert in catfish fishing. I found this article in the D News. Read in the Salt Lake County section about the cats and where you can access the river. I heard a few years ago that the place to go was near where the river dumps into Utah Lake. I think they call it the narrows or the meadow or something. I cant remember? This article should be useful for you.

Utah Lake is also a good place to catch them. On the southern west side is a place called Lincoln beach. I have caught cats in that area. It is fun to go out and fish for them at night along the Jordan river. Go to Sportsman's Warehouse and they will hook you up with the goods and tell you where to go. I used to get the glow in the dark bobbers and stuff for night time.

Willard Bay always has catfish fishermen up there.

Also, the lower Weber River has a few, where the river turns brown and is past all the rapids.
