I went down keyhole saturday and pinecreek tuesday. They were both cold. I wore a 4/3 and was chilly in both. Doing Keyhole without one sounds :cold:

I use the totem as my primary device. Lasts me about twice as many canyons as the piranas on my loaner harnesses. As for durability compared to tube or 8 style, it totally depends on the tube or 8....

I was rather unimpressed with my Fire actually. It wore out FAST. Could have just been one of those weeks though... I plan to give the fire another shot someday, in the name of scientific rigor....

This is one of the best things that can possible be done to reduce risk, IMO. I feel it should never disgust anyone. I do it when I canyoneer. I picked up the habit from a climbing partner of mine......

To avoid crowds when doing these two canyons (which is a short day I love) I generally start keyhole at first light, and then move to pine creek. Only once have I ended up behind...

I've never had a problem getting a boring old prussic to grab multiple strands of rope (admittedly never tried it with more than three, and that was just to see if it worked)

Did it in a class at SUU taught by a gentleman from Zion. Took about 15 seconds to cut through the webbing. I've since repeated the demonstration for groups I teach (BSA groups mostly) several times...
