Took the Boy Scouts camping along Mirror Lake Highway this last weekend. The weather couldn't have been better. Clear, mild temps with lots of stars!

We used an idea I found from another trip...

Chicken and mashed potatoes is my favorite, followed by Chili Mac. I don't particularly like the Teriyaki Chicken.

If I remember correctly, the Hiker Pro has more field-serviceable parts.

My secret for silt is cheap and fits in the filter bag... 3 coffee filters and a rubber band. Attach around the intake when there is silt. Works like a charm.

That sounds like a great time. I'm the Scoutmaster for a troop in West Jordan. What ages of boys did you take? I'd like to try a similar experience with our boys (ages 12-13, sometimes a 14 or 15...

It takes about 1h45 from West Jordan leaving at 5:30PM.

I've used both the Katadyn Hiker Pro and the Katadyn Vario. I love the Vario. Have used it for two years now and never had a miss.

Awesome report and pics. I had my scout troop up to Ruth in August as well. You got the great weekend, we got the rain. I've never camped in such a downpour since I was in a hurricane back in '85....

Awesome trip and pics. My parents live in Lander. This makes me want to take more trips up that way. Perhaps I'll need to take 3-4 days off this summer for an extended "visit".
