Places I've been with my kids (at similar ages) that were great:

-The Spruces (Big Cottonwood)
-Tanner's Flat (Little Cottonwood)
-Affleck Park (East Canyon)
-Rock Cliff Campground up the east...

So, what sort of shoulder pack is small enough to fit above that?

Both were awesome, and could easily accommodate pop-ups, and medium size trailers.

Big purpose of the trip was to put together an itinerary for my 11 year old scouts to pass off some map & compass and a 5 mile hike requirement this week.
