what's peoples' experience with ascending/descending water canyon with dogs? sounds narrow with steep drop offs but is it fairly safe for a sure footed/four footed companion?

we are planning to hike the fiery furnace in February. Ranger guides are not available until March. Any advise for maps of trail guides to assist with navigation? Thanks
