That's the summit of Liberty Cap near Grand Junction, Colorado. The above photo was taken in 2009. The ladder has since been removed. Here it is last Saturday:Quote:

I've jumped out of multiple helo's and aircraft, both static line and free fall. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER had a desire to bungee jump. Give me my drogue + reserve chute instead, please.
I believe that.
I went skydiving for my first time two years ago at Skydive Ogden and not once did my stomach go to my throat, and wasn't scared until the landing and got me spinning and wanted to barf about 500ft up...I'm a lightweight apparently...
Anyway, rides at Lagoon or Disneyland are scarier than skydiving for me. Hahaha. And I'm sure Bungee jumping would be the same.... :Nono:
I didn't find bungee jumping scary (though the one we did in Guatemala and only had an 82 foot drop, so higher would probably be scarier), but I also didn't find it enjoyable. My nine year old daughter had to do it three times, but once was enough for me. It popped my back, which wasn't good before a big backpack. I don't have much desire to do it again.
The Verzasc dam jump is listed at 721 feet, one of the highest bungee jumps in the world! I'm guessing 3-5 secons of freefall before you start to feel the bungee deceleration, which is pretty gradual. You pendulum 4-500 feet and the rebound is 250 to 300 vertically. It didn't feel that high as the rebound occurs as you swing so isn't as noticeable as a straight up and down bounce. The guide said to jump out as far as posible to get the most pendulum swing for the best ride..said not to think of it as jumping, to think of it as flyng! Regardless... it was quie a rush!!! Google 007 Bungee Jump an you will get a lot of videos of this dam. It is the jump from the start of Goldeneye.. the reason it's called the 007 jump.
There's a reason my trail name - despite my protestations - is "Inspector Gadget":

Where's your cowboy hat and boots?
You are from the Lone Star State...aren't you?
Yep, I are. Born in N'awlins, but Naturalized Texan.
I do have a mighty fine pair of boots, but share the cowboy hat with my brother (Stetson 10X, used to be my dad's).
BTW, above pic was taken on West Rim Trail during my Trans Zion Trek a couple weeks ago.

Keep in mind, a "very difficult" trail in Florida means an easy one in any other state with mountains.
